Does everyone know that we are selling the letters for window stickers that say "Professional Armed Forces Rodeo Association" and "www.PAFRA2000.com"?  They come in black (for trailers) or white (for a vehicle window) and the money will all go directly back to PAFRA!  Let's show our support, advertise, and help out the Association all at the same time!  See the fundraising page for more information.

It's great to see that there is still an association for military Rodeo. I rode bull for the MRCA back in the mid-late 90's but can't find that particular association anymore. I'm sure they just changed the name...is this it or are ya'll a completely different organization?

The MRCA went defunct in like 1999.  The director retired and moved to Arizona.  PAFRA is a totally different organization.

The M.R.C.A. disslovled in the year 2000, PAFRA was formed by members who were dissatisfied with the way things were being done. If you read the PAFRA History, link that article gives a brief story.

Just a Heads-Up for all 2008 members. We are planning to hold kids events this year at Finals. Plan on bringing the kids or grandkids and having them compete in a dummy roping and possibly a mutton bustin' as well. As with all others, prizes for the kids will depend on moneys gained through sponsorships or member donations. Thanks again to the Shilaikis family for sponsoring 2007's kids buckles.

I just received a copy of the Rodeo News and was excited to see four pages dedicated to PAFRA.  I want to thank Siri Stevens for the professional publication and the support she has shown to our military.  2008 is already starting out to be a bang-up year!  Keep our deployed Troops in your prayers.

It is great to see more new members getting on board. The one way we will grow is to get the word out about PAFRA however we can, not too many people know about us, for example when I went to have the radio interview with Red Steagall for the radio program the Cowboy Corner, the only military rodeo association Red knew of was the European Rodeo Cowboys Assciation (E.R.C.A)when he was on a concert tour there in the 1970's, but was unaware of any such association that existed stateside and before the interview I asked Red if he had heard of the Leatherneck Rodeo and he said,"No",so I knew that if he did not know of the very first military rodeo that was started in 1947 at Camp Pendlenton MCB California that we have our work cut out for us to get the word out. Red has been involved in the country music industry for almost 50 years and has hosted the National Finals Rodeo for 4 years and hoted the Winston Pro Rodeo Tour for the 1985 season and co-hosted the College National Finals Rodeo for 4 years. After the interview was over, Red told me, "I did not know what questions to ask you because this is so new." So if the military rodeo concept is new to Red then we need to keep up our efforts to get the word out by what ever means we have available to us and we will grow. I hope the radio interview will be the spark we need to get off to a good start toward that goal, get more members, fill the stands at the finals, and gain more sponsors. Let more folks know about the upcoming interview by going to the PAFRA home page and follow the intructions, there you will find some information and links to websites,if you look at Red's website you will find has released a new CD and he is having duets with Toby Keith, Reba McEntire, Ray Benson, Larry Gatlin, Neal McCoy, Charlie Pride, and Charlie Dainel.

Boy Howdy its good to see PAFRA blowing out of chute number (200)8. I was here in the beginning for those of you who dont know me, 2001 Bull Riding Champ/2002 Chute Dogging Champ. Its great to see our military cowboys and cowgirls carrying on the tradition. I'm dang near retired from the Army now and have an embroidery company in Colorado, I'm sure some of y'all saw that coming from my rodeo gear. I've traded the bulls, steers and horses for the iron horse with the HD brand. Hope to see y'all down the road and I can do all the custom embroidery work any of y'all would be looking for. Take care, God Bless and Ride Hard.

I just wanted to stop by and say I am with Don Hadley.  It is good to see so many people keeping the "PAFRA Dream" alive.  I started with PAFRA in 2002 and made the trip to Bandera.  In 'O3 and '04 even though alot of people, including my traveling partner Justin Whitworth, were deployed in support of OEF and OIF we tried our best to keep it alive.  For those that might remember there were a couple of us that did everthing in our power to keep the then OZARK CIRCUIT alive and we somehow stayed afloat. (all 5 of us...ha ha ha)  I am the 2003 Saddle Bronc, Reserve Bull Riding and All-Around Champ.  I reclaimed my title in 2005 for the Saddle Bronc at the first PAFRA World Finals in Ft Worth and it was "Worth" every minute and mile that we all had put into it.  Well I am done rambling.  I am out of Okinawa in Nov. '08 so I hope to see you in the '09 season.  All of y'all that I have seen down the road in the past or those that I hope to see in future please feel free to hit me up on email or on myspace.  God Bless and RIDE UP!
Sincerely,
Patrick A. McTaggart,SSgt,USAF

Jim Stewart passed away.  Jocelyn and Jim were members of the PAFRA National Capitol Rodeo Team.  Jocelyn ran barrels and Jim helped us with everything else.  I am lucky to have had him as a friend and I will truly miss him.

Please visit: http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/jimstewart for more information:
Dear Friends,
Although it seemed that Jim had been making some babysteps in progress, this morning we learned that the dialysis was not effective in helping his body overcome the many problems he had. Despite Jim's most valiant efforts and the medical team's expertise, he was not able to continue fighting. The brain trauma was simply too extensive. He died today at about 5:45 p.m. EST.
Your prayers, support and emails have helped our family considerably. We will be making arrangements and will update this site as soon as decisions have been settled.
Please continue to hold Jocelyn and the boys in your thoughts and prayers. Our heartfelt thanks and appreciation goes out to the PAG and to the trauma team at Inova Fairfax. Special thanks to the Traut Family, Lt. Col. Kuth, First Shirt Mark Cantrell, Dr. Tubb, Col. Tillman, Chief M/Sgt. Martin, the Feghali Family, and others too numerous to list.
Much love,
Kay, Big Jim and Chad Stewart
