Chester L. Howe was born in Moundsville, WV to Raymond and Mary Sue Howe on 17 November, 1968. He grew up in the rural area surrounding the town of Moundsville and joined the Marine Corps immediately after high school graduation in July of 1987. After completing Boot Camp in Parris Island, SC, Chester attended the Marine Artillery Training school in Ft. Sill, OK. Upon completion of his military occupational specialty school, Chester reported to Camp LeJeune, NC for duty as an artillery fire direction controlman where he served in several different assignments and participated in numerous deployments worldwide including Operations Dessert Shield and Dessert Storm.
In 1995, Chester reported to the New London Naval Submarine Base in Groton, CT for duty as a Cadre Instructor for the base police department. Upon completion of this tour, he returned to Camp Lejeune for duty. In January 2003, Chester deployed to Iraq and participated in Operation Iraqi Freedom as the 81mm Mortar Platoon Sergeant with 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment. Chester returned to the United States in June, 2003 and deployed again with 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment in November of 2003 to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
Chester returned from Afghanistan in June of 2004 and reported to the Marine Artillery Training School, Ft. Sill, OK and after many years of bull riding began team roping in 2004. Chester reported to Headquarters Battery, 2nd Battalion, 14th Marines for duty as the Battalion Operations Chief on November 16th of this year.
Chester has over 20 years of service and has served in 33 different countries and every continent of the world excluding Antarctica, which he has no desire to see.
Chester is married to the former Susan Suprano of Barlow, OH and they have three children.
Chester’s hobbies include anything that can be done horseback and enjoys roping, training young horses and doing traditional cowboy ranch work.
Events: Team Roping – Head / Heel, and Chute Dogging.
